About the client
MD Insurance Services Limited is one of the three companies that constitute The MD Group brand. They work together to provide insurance schemes to support the construction industry across the UK and in Europe. The award-winning MD Group has provided latent defects insurance since 1997.
Business challenge
Following a comprehensive review, our client identified that the legacy system used to manage both claims and other insurance cases did not meet their current standards for case traceability, case management, and reporting.
The client wanted the cases to be processed much quicker and more efficiently in order to improve the quality of services and customer experience, and that is why the need for a technology partner occurred.
MD Insurance chose Future Processing because of our experience and expertise with creating new bespoke systems and extensive data migration.
We have worked with Future Processing for just over two years in total including onboarding. The skill level of some of the team is outstanding and we have enjoyed working with the extended team. Although we didn’t have the opportunity to travel as a team to the head office I feel this would have been a valuable benefit and our lead developer, who did have that opportunity was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed his time.
As a manager it has been very useful to have Dawid as our account manager who is always available to help and offer support and has visited us a number of times to maintain a relationship between the teams.
Scope of work
Our scope of work encompassed the creation of a new, reliable core management system from scratch in Microservices and the migration of existing claims and cases from the legacy application.
We reduced the time needed for the processes from start to finish and improved the accuracy of claims decisions and overall customer service, which allows our client to develop their offering further and stay ahead in the market. MD Insurance is able to use the new reports to their advantage, making well-informed decisions and having greater control over their data.
After we went live with the new system, we continue to support it. Together with the client, we are now planning to enhance and optimise the application further and develop new features during the next development phase.
The project team worked closely with our business stakeholder throughout the project, both during requirements gathering and refinement and also UAT to support us in agile ways of working and meeting the needs of our customers.
Data migration
One of the biggest tasks was data migration. We implemented a Migration Engine tool that would connect old and new systems’ features and enable the whole complex migration process. In the end, we automatically migrated around 1400 claims and tens of thousands of transactions within the claims.
At the beginning, the client wanted to move all old claims to the archive. Both systems had databases with vastly different structures and it would be difficult to migrate the data without making a lot of mistakes. Our expert’s Migration Engine tool enabled the systems to communicate through endpoints and the archive proved unnecessary as the claims were successfully moved to the new system.
