Streamlining communication and improving satisfaction of over 17.5 million drivers a year on the A4 motorway, section Katowice-Krakow, with an informative web portal
Executive Summary
Challenge: Managing the crucial fragment of one of the longest motorways in Poland, Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska (the concessionaire) wanted to inform drivers about ongoing works and unexpected occurrences, ensuring smooth travel experience and the highest customer satisfaction.
Approach: We’ve designed and developed A4info, a responsive web portal that helps Stalexport teams provide live updates on road conditions. All that within a strictly defined time and budget set at the kick-off of our collaboration.
Result: A4info now serves as a crucial tool for drivers, significantly improving their experience on the motorway. Additionally, a unified internal database was created to optimise efficiency of Stalexport’s teams and enable future data analysis.

About the client
Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska is committed to managing and maintaining a crucial segment of the A4 motorway, connecting Kraków and Katowice: two business and economic centres in Poland.
The mission of Stalexport is to provide professional services and contribute to improvement of the motorway infrastructure quality.
Business challenge
On average, the traffic on the A4 Katowice-Kraków amounts to above 48 thousand vehicles each day, and the number keeps growing.
With this volume of traffic and an obligation to keep the motorway safe and smooth to use, Stalexport must constantly undertake significant renovations and maintenance works.
As a client-focused organisation, Stalexport knows that even the smallest road disruption can significantly affect drivers’ experience.
That’s why they needed a tool to proactively tackle and prevent drops in user satisfaction that had to be delivered within the precise deadline, right before the launch of the marketing campaign.
A trusted partner
As we’ve been Stalexport’s trusted technological partner for years now, they asked us to design and deliver A4info: a driver-friendly, distraction-free web portal with a map presenting real time information on planned and conducted roadworks, and unexpected occurrences on the motorway.
Moreover, to enable seamless portal’s data management by multiple teams across Stalexport, the system had to be integrated with the existing internal solution – the one we developed four years ago.
A4info: what drivers need
The aim of A4info is to keep drivers informed, and at the same time focused: while planning their journey or when already driving.
That’s why we’ve designed a custom motorway online map – free from any distractions or information overload from market-ready basemap layers.
The portal streamlines journey planning, as it provides only relevant information on the planned or conducted works on the motorway lanes, junctions, and toll plazas. The drivers have 24/7 preview of any traffic reorganisations on informative graphics.
The system allows motorway management centre’s team to instantly alert drivers about any unexpected occurrences that influence traffic. The portal users are immediately given a notification about any accidents, breakdowns or emergency maintenance works.
All graphical representations of occurrences are generated automatically, basing on data provided by Stalexport’s teams. They conveniently input all necessary information on web forms designed exactly like those already in use throughout the organisation, making the process easy and fast.
Opportunity to boost efficiency
Early in our collaboration, we saw the chance to boost Stalexport’s organisational efficiency by centralising data that previously was stored in various databases in multiple departments.
Now, as Stalexport’s technical, marketing, and motorway management teams work together on one cloud-native database, it is set to become a comprehensive data repository of all traffic disruptions, simplifying data queries for customer service, administrative, and technical departments.
Moreover, the database is designed to enable future development of data analysis and reporting features, all within Stalexport’s internal ecosystem.
Enhanced driver insight
To reach a broader audience and automate Stalexport’s workflow, all notifications are automatically posted on Stalexport’s X feed and integrated into Yanosik, a Polish navigation app with over 2 million monthly users.
